Mulline Rosé 2024

Mulline Rosé 2024

SKU:2024 | Geelong | Rosé

Description

95 Points – James Halliday Wine Companion. From Australia’s Best Value Winery 2025, this Mulline Rosé is dry, delicate and dangerously drinkable – think summer in a glass, but with proper cool-climate detail.

A pale, bright salmon pink, it opens with aromas of freshly picked raspberries, cranberry, blood orange and rose petals, with a gentle spice from the Syrah. The palate is dry and flavoursome without ever feeling heavy: juicy red berry and citrus notes glide across a silky texture, finishing crisp, savoury and utterly refreshing.

Made from predominantly Shiraz with a touch of Pinot Noir, all from the Moorabool Valley in Geelong, the juice is barrel fermented and aged on full lees for four months. That time in oak and on lees adds texture and complexity while keeping the wine lithe and vibrant. It’s Mulline’s quasi-Provençal take on rosé – serious enough for the table, yet effortless enough for any sunny afternoon.

95 Points James Halliday Wine Companion & Winner – Best Value Winery 2025 – Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion

“A blend of 85/10/20% syrah/pinot noir/pinot gris. A light, bright salmon pink. Just as engaging on the nose with its aromas of freshly picked raspberries, cranberry, some blood oranges and a touch of spice. Dry, flavoursome – but not too much so – and salivating. You can't ask for much more really.”

Winemaker's Notes

Mulline Rosé is crafted from predominantly Shiraz with a portion of Pinot Noir, all sourced from the Moorabool Valley in Geelong. A light, bright salmon hue introduces a fragrant nose of raspberry, cranberry, blood orange and subtle spice. The palate is dry and energetic, with juicy red fruit flavours, a gentle creaminess from barrel fermentation and full lees ageing, and a savoury, salivating finish that makes this a moreish, food-friendly rosé.

Further Information About this Wine

Mulline Rosé 2024 is a cool-climate rosé made entirely from fruit grown in the Moorabool Valley subregion of Geelong. The wine is built around Shiraz (Syrah) with a smaller portion of Pinot Noir, giving both red berry fruit and delicate floral notes.

The juice is barrel fermented and then aged for four months on full lees. This technique adds subtle creamy texture and mid-palate weight without making the wine heavy, while regular lees contact helps build complexity and a savoury edge.

Stylistically, it sits in a dry, quasi-Provençal zone: pale in colour, fragrant and refreshing, with raspberry, cranberry and blood orange flavours, light spice and a crisp, mouth-watering finish.

As the rosé from Halliday’s Best Value Winery 2025, it offers serious quality at an accessible price, making it a brilliant option for everything from long lunches and picnics to more formal dinners where a versatile, food-friendly pink wine is needed.

About Mulline

Mulline Vintners is the project of two Bens – winemaker and viticulturist Ben Mullen and business manager Ben Hine. Their focus is on producing structural, precise wines from the Geelong region, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and small-batch releases like this rosé at the core. Ben’s experience spans top Australian and international names, including Torbreck, Yarra Yering, Oakridge, Domaine Dujac, Leeuwin Estate, Craggy Range and Clyde Park. Mulline’s aim is to showcase the diversity of Geelong’s subregions through thoughtfully made, site-driven wines, an approach that has seen them named Halliday’s Best Value Winery in 2025.

About Geelong Wine Region

The Moorabool Valley sits inland to the north-west of Geelong, combining a cool climate with a mix of limestone, volcanic and clay-based soils. Warm, dry days and cool nights help grapes ripen with intense flavour while retaining bright natural acidity. This balance makes the area ideal for refined Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and textural rosé styles. Wines from Moorabool Valley often show a savoury, structural edge alongside vibrant fruit, and producers like Mulline are helping to highlight the subregion’s potential for high-quality, cool-climate expressions.
