SKU:2021 | Barossa Valley | Cabernet Sauvignon
Barossa Cabernet with history in the bottle. Some wines carry more than flavour. They carry place, people and time. The 2021 Welland Old Hands Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those wines.
The fruit comes from vines first planted in 1923 by one of the Barossa's founding families, from the last remaining section of the original Welland vineyard that has not been subdivided and built over. In a world always chasing the next new thing, this is a wine that reminds you experience still matters.
On the nose, it brings all the generosity you want from a proper Barossa red: red fruits, sweet spice and cedar, with cassis, a touch of green herbs and a layer of toasty oak. The palate is rich and inviting, unfolding with dark fruit, chocolate and jubey blackberry notes, supported by soft, well-integrated tannins and a smooth, generous finish.
This is a beautifully drinkable Cabernet now, but it also has the depth and structure to reward time in the cellar. It is classic Barossa in feel — generous, warm and built on old-vine character.

Drinking beautifully now for its generous fruit and soft tannin profile, but will reward medium-term cellaring as the cedar, herb and savoury Cabernet characters continue to evolve over the next 10 years.
