What is a GSM blend?
GSM stands for Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre (also called Mataro). Grenache brings red fruit and perfume, Shiraz adds body and dark fruit, and Mourvèdre contributes structure, spice and savoury depth—the classic Southern Rhône-style red, perfected in many Australian regions.
What does GSM taste like?
Typically medium to full-bodied with raspberry, cherry and blackberry, peppery spice and fine tannins. Warmer regions (Barossa/McLaren Vale) give riper, plusher styles; cooler sites can be more lifted and savoury. Balance is the hallmark—fruit, spice and structure in harmony.
What food pairs well with GSM?
Grilled or roast lamb, BBQ, sausages, pizza, ratatouille, mushrooms and hard cheeses. GSM’s ripe fruit and gentle tannin make it a versatile match from weeknight comfort to slow-cooked weekend dishes.
