Description

This wine is all about elegance and seductive aromas with subtle power. Bright red fruits of cherries and raspberries. This Pinot comprises of 3 clones (Abel, 667, 115) from the Estate's high-density block and 777 clone from the original vineyard.  2022 vintage was excellent: slow ripening, small yields showcasing concentration and elegance. Handpicked. 100% destemmed, matured in French oak for 11 months. Allowing the for a 'true' expression of Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir.

Pleasure to drink.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2022 vintage had everything going for it, no disease pressure and long, cool ripening period has given us fruit of concentration and freshness. The fruit was handpicked and rigorously sorted, utilising predominantly cool fermentation winemaking to preserve the perfume from the 777 clone original 2008 vineyard and the bottom hill high density sections of 667, Abel and 115. All fermented and matured in barrel separately in open top stainless steel fermenters.

Harry Scanlon

Meet the maker: Harry Scanlon

Harry grew up in and around the family vineyard at Scanlon Estate, located in the Adelaide Hills, and was quickly introduced to the vine and wine world.

Harry knew from a young age it was his ambition to become a winemaker. Harry was lucky enough to be introduced to all things wine by the late and truly great Taras Ochota of Ochota Barrels, and is currently working with the Pinot masters Stephen George and Liam Van Pelt of Ashton Hills Vineyard.

In the past Harry has worked with Louis Schofield of Worlds Apart Wines, along with the constant support and helping hand of Alex Trescowthick currently of Red Heads, Tresco Wine and previously a Nepenthe Head Winemaker.

Harry’s obsession with Burgundy has inspired him to make wines that not only speak of place and are unique to the Piccadilly Valley, but wine of the highest quality with upmost perfectionism and age ability in mind.
