Winemaker's Notes

Serve chilled at 8-10°C (46-50°F) to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and refreshing palate.

Collection 244 NV is based from the 2019 vintage. It was a year of record-breaking temperatures brought by particularly intense heat waves. Dry and continental and of magnificent maturity, this year gave us wines that were dense and fresh, with a masterful balance, conducive to bringing out the powerful and luscious Collection character in the blend.

This 244th Blend includes:
Perpetual Reserve - 36% (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016,2017,2018)
Reserve Wines Aged in Oak - 10% (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016,2017,2018)
2019 Vintage - 54%

Aged for almost 4 years in our cellars, Collection 244 is a wine that has reached great plenitude, borne by the maturity of the year, the freshness of the Perpetual Reserve and the complexity of the oak-aged reserve wines. It is a wonderfully well-balanced champagne with an incredibly luscious power, marking the return of the Meunier grape variety, which adds a fruity, caressing softness to the more structured, saline Pinots noirs and Chardonnays.

About the Winery: Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer, established in 1776, remains a family-owned Champagne house, currently led by the seventh generation, Frédéric Rouzaud. With Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon as Chef de Cave and Vice-President, the house has become the largest biodynamic domaine in Champagne. As of March 2021, 115 hectares of their 242-hectare vineyards are certified organic, the highest percentage among Champagne houses. Notably, all vintage cuvées are crafted exclusively from their estate vineyards, embodying a philosophy more akin to a grower than a traditional house. Their vineyards average a 98% rating on the official Échelle des Crus classification, with prestigious cuvées like Cristal Brut and Cristal Rosé sourced entirely from Grand Cru, organic-certified, and biodynamically farmed vineyards.

About the Wine Region: Champagne

The Champagne region, located in northeastern France, is renowned for producing the world's most celebrated sparkling wines. The area encompasses approximately 34,300 hectares, covering 319 villages, each contributing unique characteristics to the wines. The region's chalky soils and cool climate provide ideal conditions for cultivating Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier grapes, the primary varietals in Champagne production.
