Description

This is Pinot with poise. Nick Spencer’s 2022 Pinot Noir from Tumbarumba is elegant, precise, and quietly powerful—a wine that whispers rather than shouts, with lifted aromatics of rose petal, red cherry, and cranberry. There's a subtle wildness here too, with hints of aniseed and spice floating above a silky, crunchy frame.

The palate? Textural and lively. There’s structure in the tannins and an acid line that stretches on and on, making it a joy to sip now or serve slightly chilled on a sunny afternoon. Made from fruit grown at 740m elevation on granite soils, this is a wine that captures altitude, clarity, and finesse in the glass.

Whether you're deep into Pinot or just exploring, this is a benchmark expression from one of Australia's rising winemaking talents.

Bottle of Nick Spencer Pinot Noir 2022 from Tumbarumba, showing elegant red fruit and rose petal notes.

Elegant, aromatic, and seriously drinkable—this is Tumbarumba Pinot at its best. $35 for this quality? A no-brainer.

Winemaker's Notes

Pinot Noir is the famed red grape of Burgundy and is responsible for some of the most revered and celebrated red wines in the world. In Australia it is grown in mostly cooler regions including Tasmania, the Yarra Valley and of course Tumbarumba. The styles of wine can very depending where they are grown, from light crunchier styles to full bodied dense dark and tannic wines.
De-stemmed, fermented on skins with an extended maturation of 30 days post ferment. Matured in old French oak puncheons for 8 months.
The fruit is grown on the Moppitty Vineyard in The Tumbarumba region. The vineyard sits at 740 m/asl on decomposed light granite soils.
