Bottle of Turkey Flat Vineyards 2021 Grenache wine from the Barossa Valley, featuring a red screw cap and a label with an illustration of a turkey. The bottle also displays a gold seal indicating a 96-point rating from the 2024 Halliday Wine Companion.

"The estate vines are predominantly over 100 years old and the '16 vintage won the '17 Jimmy Watson Trophy. Bright, clear colour announces a perfumed red flower and fruit bouquet, the palate taking that cue and adding some purple fruit and gently savoury notes for the finish. Great value."

About this Wine

Appearance: This Grenache presents a vibrant and clear ruby colour in the glass.

Nose: The aroma is dominated by red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, complemented by floral notes and a hint of spice. Subtle hints of bracken add a layer of complexity.

Palate: The palate is rich and full-bodied, featuring concentrated red fruit flavours with layers of spice. The wine has a deep structure with well-integrated tannins and a modest oak influence that enhances its complexity without overpowering the fruit. There is a balance of fruit sweetness, tannin, and a slight herbaceousness that adds depth.

Finish: The finish is long and satisfying, maintaining the balance between fruit, spice, and structural elements.

Food Pairing: This Grenache pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes. It complements Mediterranean-inspired foods such as tapas, lamb, and tomato-based dishes. It also goes well with grilled or aged steak, making it a versatile choice for diverse culinary pairings.

Winemaker's Notes

The wine was fermented with 15% whole bunch with half the remaining stems also included in the ferment. Maturation took place in a combination of neutral oak Foudre and neutral oak puncheons. The resulting wine shows beautiful floral and spiced aromatics, bright fruit that fills out into more complex spiced and savoury characteristics, and strong tannins that will ensure longevity.
