95 Points – James Halliday Wine Companion. From one of Halliday’s Top 100 Wineries, Mulline’s 2024 Geelong Pinot Noir is all about perfume, energy and sheer drinkability.

Semi-translucent cherry red in the glass, it bursts with aromas of wild strawberries, red cherry, poached rhubarb and rose petals, laced with white pepper, forest floor and subtle whole-bunch spice. On the palate it’s light to medium-bodied and silken, with juicy red fruits gliding over fine, stony tannins and a savoury, mouth-watering finish.

Fruit is drawn from vineyards across the Moorabool Valley, Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula, using classic Pinot clones (MV6, Abel, 777, 114 and D2V5). Around 20% whole bunch and just 15% new oak, followed by six months in barrel, keep the wine fragrant, fresh and finely structured – a modern, cool-climate Geelong Pinot that seriously over-delivers.

“The 2024 Mulline Pinot Noir brings together Pinot fruit from cool, maritime-influenced sites across the Moorabool Valley, Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula. A light, bright cherry-red hue introduces aromas of strawberry, red cherry, cranberry and rhubarb, with hints of rose, white pepper and earth. Around 20% whole bunch and 15% new oak add gentle spice and structure while keeping the palate silky and vibrant. Fine, powdery tannins and bright acidity drive a long, savoury finish.”

Mulline Pinot Noir 2024 is a four-vineyard, six-clone blend from across the Moorabool Valley, Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula in the Geelong region. Clones MV6, Abel, 777, 114 and D2V5 are used to build fragrance, structure and depth.

Around 20% whole bunches bring lift, crunch and subtle stem spice, while 15% new oak and a total of six months in barrel keep the wine focused on fruit purity and fine texture rather than heavy oak.

At 12.5% alcohol it sits firmly in the cool-climate camp – light to medium bodied, energetic and refreshing – making it a versatile Pinot that works just as well on its own as it does on the table with duck, charcuterie or earthy vegetarian dishes.

Mulline has quickly developed a reputation for high-quality, great-value Geelong wines, and this Pinot is a perfect introduction to their style: detailed, savoury and dangerously drinkable.

About Mulline Vintners

Mulline Vintners is a collaboration between winemaker–viticulturist Ben Mullen and business manager Ben Hine. Based in the Geelong region, Mulline focuses on small-batch, cool-climate wines that highlight the character of Moorabool Valley, Bellarine Peninsula and the Surf Coast. Ben’s winemaking resume includes time at Torbreck, Yarra Yering, Oakridge, Domaine Dujac, Craggy Range and Clyde Park, and that experience shows in the finesse and precision of the wines. In just a few vintages, Mulline has earned serious attention as one of Australia’s most exciting young producers.
