Keyneton Euphonium is a classic Barossa blend led by shiraz from up to 50-year-old vines in the Eden and Barossa Valleys, supported by cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot. The 2022 release pours a deep crimson with ruby hues and opens with intensely perfumed aromas of raspberry, blackberry and black plum, layered with violets, almond blossom, bay leaf, vanilla pod, black pepper and dried herbs.

The palate is all dark forest fruits and baking spice, wrapped in fine-grained tannins and bright, refreshing acidity. Sage, Dutch cocoa and subtle oak notes carry through a long, lingering finish. Powerful yet beautifully composed, this is a Barossa red that will impress now and reward long-term cellaring.

Completing the experience are two Henschke-branded Plumm Everyday Red glasses, machine-blown from 100% lead-free European crystal. Durable, elegant and perfectly shaped for medium to full-bodied reds, they turn any bottle of Keyneton into a proper occasion.

Winemaker's Notes

Further Information About this Wine

Keyneton Euphonium takes its name from the Barossa hills village of Keyneton, founded in 1842 by pastoralist Joseph Keynes. The village became a cultural hub and home to the Henschke Family Brass Band, whose B-flat euphonium – crafted in Leipzig in the late 1800s – still sits with the family today. The wine is a nod to that musical heritage: a layered composition of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot from the Eden Valley and Barossa Valley.
Shiraz comes from vines up to 50 years old, giving depth and concentration, while the Bordeaux varieties add structure, aromatics and line. In 2022, a season of above-average winter rain, challenging spring weather and lower yields resulted in particularly intense, beautifully balanced fruit with great purity, freshness and flavour drive.
This gift pack also includes two Henschke-branded Plumm Everyday Red wine glasses, machine-blown from 100% lead-free European crystal using the pulled-stem method for extra durability. They are designed as all-round red wine glasses – ideal for medium to full-bodied styles like Keyneton Euphonium – and are dishwasher safe.
